fun monthly meetings

Need To Read Book Club provides all the resources to make it EASY for teachers and facilitators to make it FUN for book club members!

Our Members-Only website provides creative meeting ideas for Reader’s Theatre, Field Trips, Guest Speakers, Crafts, Games, Media, and Snacks. We also have Reader Leader ideas that encourage Need To Read Book Club members to take an active leadership role in promoting reading through school-wide literacy initiatives. All of these creative, out-of-the-box activities connect directly with the books the students have read. Most are as easy to implement as downloading a PDF and printing it off!

We provide downloadable bookmarks with application and “big picture” ideas to help guide exciting book discussion. These ideas encourage kids to think past the content on the page to making connections in their own lives. There are no right or wrong answers to our questions, which make the lowest readers feel as confident sharing as the highest readers.

Need To Read Book Club is unique in that each member in the program receives six new books to keep for their very own throughout the year. They get to choose four of these books from a carefully pre-selected, multi-genre and multi-reading level list. Ownership and the choice factor encourage members to come prepared for book club meetings and ready to discuss!

Another exciting resource of Need To Read Book Club is the Need To Read BIG GAME! This book discussion game is adaptable to any book or theme. Through our Members-Only website, book discussion cards and chance questions are easily downloaded for each monthly unit. The Need To Read BIG GAME is BIG FUN!

what people are saying

"I have been in the NTRBC all this year. I initially joined so I'd get better as a reader and become more intelligent, but I've found out there is so much more to it! I love reading and sharing with others about the books. The teachers really seem to enjoy it, too, and it is fun getting to know them outside of the classroom!" -NTRBC book club member
